Shark Search Atlas &
research infrastructure

Shark Search Atlas is an integrated biometric identification and research-data platform supporting species classification, individual shark identification, re-sighting histories, catalogue management and the organisation of date, location and encounter metadata.

Used alongside scientific review and established research methods, the Atlas transforms photographic encounters into structured longitudinal records. These records can support individual monitoring, mark-recapture applications, assessments of site fidelity and movement, population analysis and collaborative research across species and regions.
